There are medical assistants that measure the success of their careers by the amount of medical assistant salary they receive. Some receive higher pay than others or perhaps are in a better practice setting, and they naturally feel they’ve achieved more than some of their colleagues. Whilst earning a higher-than-the-average medical assistant salary does generally show how much you’ve progressed in your field, is your salary really the only barometer of success?

Empathy or compassion, sympathy and understanding are some of the things that all medical assistants should have. There are those that go to work, go with the motion of their daily tasks, and go home at the end of each pay day with their assistant salary. They often forget that as medical assistants, their main concern should always be the patients that go to their clinic for help. When a patient comes in, the medical assistant will often record their medical history, discuss the patient’s current symptoms, and take the vital signs. They often forget that the patients are people who often have medical problems, and that’s why they’re visiting their physicians. A good medical assistant should be able to make the patient feel as comfortable as possible and lessen the anxiety they feel whilst at the clinic. They should prepare the patients to meet the physician. This act can go a long way in the eyes of the patient, and how the medical assistant conducts herself will often reflect on the health practitioner who’s employing the assistant.

Most healthcare careers, including that of medical assistants, can be very demanding both physically and emotionally. This is offset though, not just by the very good medical assistant salary, but perhaps more so by the personal rewards and satisfaction that every medical assistant should feel at the end of each day. They should realize that they are in fact, making a difference is somebody else’s life, especially those that needed them the most. Those medical assistants that realize these things are often the ones that feel they are really successful, not just in their careers, but in their lives more importantly. Yes, the medical assistant salary they get paid with are excellent, but what attracts them the most to this job is the chance to help people everyday.

Some medical assistants may feel they’re not really making a difference, that they’re just doing their jobs. But to the patients that comes to see their patients for treatment, the first persons that greet them when they come in do helps them a lot especially if they can make them feel at ease. Whatever the physician’s findings turn out to be, the mere fact that there’s someone there at the office aside from the physician that touched their lives in some way definitely means a lot. Aside from you medical assistant salary, what else would you need, right?
